Fun Day 2007
Dubious the weather proved to be, with organisers unsure of whether this community fun day would be ruled by the sun or the rain, luckily cloudy skies did not dampen the community spirit and the fortunes which that the day continued to bring. It was Saturday 25th August and as luck had it the clouds lifted and the sun pierced through for all to enjoy. The event held in the overspill car park of Olympia Leisure Centre kicked of proceedings with unwanted goods as the car booters came in full force, with many local residents taking a competitive approach to the hunt of hidden treasures at bargain prices. (All proceeds from this frenzy were donated to the M.O.V.E. Co-operative). Not to be outdone while parents were rummaging the kids had perhaps more exciting challenges to take part in. Whether they attempted the gladiator dual with gutsy determination or just took up the offer of free candyfloss smiles were undoubtedly around enhanced through multicoloured face-painting attempts carried out by the staff of GVRT and the V2DaB Youth Forum. Sticky fingers were at a must with even the local Community Liaison Officers from Donegall Pass Police Station getting stuck into the festivities not to be outdone by the younger attendees.
