The Touching Wood Project has now been completed with Owen Crawford holding a painting day with Donegall Road Primary School, Blythefield Primary School and Arellian Nursery School. The Opening Ceremony was held on Thursday 20th September; the tour starting at TREE going onto Blythefield Park to view the sculptures finishing with refreshments in Charter Youth Club. We would like to thank all participants, partners and staff who contributed to the project, especially the Primary Schools, Sandy Row Nursery Group, and Fold Housing Association, who very kindly gave the Trust permission to erect the tableaux onto the curved wall at the

Gallery of Shutters

Lesley Cherry has completed six artworks for the area that have been situated on disused buildings, local businesses and local resource centres. The project was funded by the Department of Social Development under the 2006 Public Realm Improvement Scheme.

Blythefield Communal

Allotment

The Trust would like to thank B&Q (Boucher Road) for awarding £500 worth of gardening equipment, including forks, rakes, soil conditioner, trellises and fruit trees to the Blythefield Communal Allotment. The equipment will eventually be stored in an anti-vandal unit on the site that Belfast City Council is trying to source. The Communal Allotment is now up and running and is being looked after by Jeananne, a very dedicated and knowledgeable volunteer. The plot is accessible to all local groups and anyone interested in gardening and volunteering. To arrange a suitable time for your group, or to volunteer to get the plot landscaped please contact Jeananne directly on 07765634174.
