Social Development Minister Visits Village |

Social Development Minister Margaret Ritchie visited the Village area on Monday 11th June 2007. She walked the streets with local community representatives Tommy Morrow and Tommy Wilson MBE. Also accompanying the Minister was Michael McGimpsey, Minister for Health. Community representatives were given an opportunity to show the Social Development Minister the poor housing conditions in the area. During the minister’s visit, the Housing Focus Committee was given an opportunity to sit down and discuss the regeneration of the Village. There was a question and answer session, during which Margaret Ritchie stated “It is important that we are able to put together a regeneration strategy that includes action to revitalise the entire area, its economy and facilities”. |
